John Nemeth is the son of a Hungarian immigrant who grew up listening to the gypsy music his father played.
The Idaho native, who relocated to the San Francisco area a few years ago, might have inherited his dad's love of music, but not necessarily the same single-minded devotion to the gypsy sound.
It's the blues that moves Nemeth.
He can jazz up a blues gig with as much harmonica-style cool as Curtis Salgado.
Nemeth brings his blues sound to the Walla Walla area March 6 starting at 9 p.m. at CrossRoads steakhouse, 201 E. Rees Ave., off Highway 12. Admission is $15 and the event is for the 21 and older crowd only.
Even though Nemeth came by his musical roots genetically, he honed his vocals singing in his church choir as well as playing in local bands in Boise.
He released his debut album -- titled Magic Touch -- in 2007 on the Blind Pig label.
The blues music critics can't seem to find anything bad to say about Nemeth's sound. As for his fellow musicians? One of the most adventurous blues men around, Charlie Musslewhite, had this to say of Nemeth.
"Boy! John Nemeth can really belt it out."

The Poulenc Trio musicians are known worldwide as masters of classical and contemporary literature that transcends into their music.
The group, based in Baltimore, Md., has performed in Italy, Russia, New York and Washington D.C., and this weekend they bring their elegant sound to the Community Concert organizations in the Lower Valley and Tri-Cities.
The trio is the first of four concerts in the Lower Valley Community Concert season and starts at 3 p.m. Nov. 20 in the auditorium at Sunnyside High School.

The Medford, Ore., musician has performed here plenty during his 40-year career.
His concerts are usually packed, and he rarely misses the chance to perform at the annual Tumbleweed Music Festival.
