3A boys: Sunnyside opens regionals with win

SUNNYSIDE -- James Sanchez hit back-to-back 3-pointers to spark Sunnyside's game-ending 13-2 run as the Grizzlies erased a five-point deficit with 5 minutes left to win a first-round 3A regional game, turning aside visiting Mount Spokane 51-45.

Alfredo De La Barrera had 13 points and seven rebounds for Sunnyside, which plays Shadle Park in Saturday's semifinals in Spokane.

SPOKANE -- Jesse Vaughan scored a game-high 26 points and Rogers (10-13) rallied from a 19-11 deficit after one quarter to oust North Central (12-11) from the 3A regionals.
