Boys roundup: Connell goes unbeaten in SCAC East

By the Herald staff

BURBANK -- Aaron Hawkins scored a game-high 19 points and the eighth-ranked Connell boys basketball team wrapped up an unbeaten campaign in the SCAC's East Division on Thursday with a 51-41 win at Columbia (Burbank) despite missing top scorer Lance Whitney for the third straight game with a knee injury.

The loss, coupled with Wahluke's 83-62 home win over Warden, dropped Columbia (Burbank) to the No. 3 district seed, meaning the Coyotes travel to Mabton next Thursday for a first-round game.

Wahluke is the No. 2 seed and hosts to Granger in the first round.

Connell, which long ago clinched the No. 1 seed, hosts Highland.
