Kennewick second after 6 games at state bowling

By the Herald staff

TACOMA -- The Kennewick girls are in second place with 4,928 pins and trail Emerald Ridge (4,966) by 38 after six scratch games at the 4A state tournament at Narrows Plaza Lanes.

The tournament concludes today with 14 Baker games.

Amanda Blackketter is fifth out of 62 individual bowlers for the Lions, who finished third at last year's 3A state tourney.

"The girls are playing great as a team. That's what's keeping them in the title hunt," said Kennewick coach Oscar Garnica. "With Baker, you depend a lot on your teammates for spares. It will come down to who's got the least opens and more spares. It's going to be close."

Pasco is sixth at 4,618 pins, 348 off the lead.

Scratch -- Team scores (through 6 games): 1, Emerald Ridge 4,966; 2, Kennewick 4,928; 3, Shelton 4,861; 4, Wilson 4,843; 5, Puyallup 4,681; 6, Pasco 4,618; 7, Evergreen 4,574; 8, Central Kitsap 4,559. Tournament concludes with 14 Baker games today.
