KENNEWICK -- Kayla Curtis of Kamiakin posted an all-around score of 35.875 en route to a first-place finish, teammate Danielle Cuevas finished second overall with a score of 34.0 and the Braves placed first with a team score of 138.575 and clinched the CBBN league championship Wednesday night at Southridge.
The Hanford and Southridge teams finished tied for second, and Richland capped its regular season in third, according to Southridge coach Heidi Fryer.
We were really striving for first, so the girls are a little disappointed, Fryer said. Our best girl (Tristan Peterson) was injured, so we had lots of new athletes trying out new things.
Junior Christine Cummings, the Suns team captain, earned a career-high fourth-place all-around finish with a score of 27.5.
The teams now rest up for next Fridays district championships at Garlands Gym in Kennewick.
