KENNEWICK -- Michael Weisner and Spencer Hessler combined for 32 points to lift the Walla Walla boys to a 49-41 Cascade Division win Tuesday at Kamiakin.
The Blue Devils trailed 27-23 in the third quarter, but Weisner scored seven points during a 16-4 run to take a 39-31 lead into the fourth. The Braves then went on a 8-4 run over the next 5 minutes to pull within 43-39.
"We had two possessions with two minutes left, but didn't convert," said Kamiakin coach Brian Meneely. "We played really hard tonight. I was proud of the kids' effort in a close ballgame."
Jeremy Rojas and Shad Fletcher each had 10 points to lead the Braves.

Kennewick coach Tarah Staton says her team has the fire to succeed this year.
"We had a really good summer together, and the girls, we're just one year older," Staton said. "We had six sophomores last year, and they're all juniors. We lost just one senior, and the kids are taking responsibility for their individual game."

EASTMONT -- One element Hanford has been lacking so far through four nonleague games has been clutch shooting.
Brennan Sutey, a 6-foot-1 junior guard, gave a textbook example of it in the Falcons' CBBN 3A opener, hitting a
3-pointer with three seconds remaining in overtime to lift Hanford to a 55-52 win over Eastmont.
"(Eastmont) tied it up with 18 seconds left. We were going to go for one shot," said Falcons coach Paul Mayer. "Brennan came off a cut and ended up standing wide open. He swished it."

RICHLAND -- Sadie Sparks had 15 points and 13 rebounds, and the Chiawana Riverhawks exploded in the third quarter and ran away with a 55-42 CBBN 4A win at Richland on Friday night.
The first-place Riverhawks outscored the Bombers 28-12 in the third period, erasing Richland's 22-20 halftime lead.
Delaney Hodgins added 12 points for Chiawana. Britney Pringle scored 20 to lead Richland, with Anna Croskrey adding 11.
