YAKIMA -- Robert Montano scored 21 points and dished out six assists, but it wasn't enough for Pasco to overcome serious foul trouble nor Davis' freshmen uprising in the CBBN Columbia contest that went to Davis 79-78.
Davis shot a whopping 51 free throws -- making 24 of them; the Bulldogs themselves were busy at the line going 18-for-29.

Brennan Sutey, a 6-foot-1 junior guard, gave a textbook example of it in the Falcons' CBBN 3A opener, hitting a

KENNEWICK -- Garrett Willard had 13 points to lead the Southridge boys basketball team past Hanford 56-53 in a CBBN 3A game.
The victory keeps the Suns in the playoff hunt, as they are tied for sixth with Sunnyside. The top six teams advance to the district tournament. Hanford falls into fourth place, a game behind West Valley.
Jalen Watson's 20 points led the Falcons.

MOSES LAKE Tyrell Turner continued his run of strong play, recording five rebounds, six assists and five steals to go with a game-high 24 points as Richland beat host Moses Lake 68-56 on Saturday in a CBBN 4A matchup.
"(Turner) has really turned into a leader. He's doing a little bit of everything," Bombers coach Earl Streufert said. "We jumped out to an early lead of 15-3, then went a little cold in the second quarter. Our defense wore them down in the fourth quarter."
Colter Quick added 12 points, and Nathan Streufert chipped in nine points and 10 rebounds to lift Richland.

Angelique Whistocken had 20 points and 11 rebounds, and Kim Harrod contributed 17 points and six rebounds to lead Kennewick to a 63-32 win over Pasco at the Lions Den in the CBBN 3A opener for both teams.
Kennewick coach Tarah Staton says her team has the fire to succeed this year.
"We had a really good summer together, and the girls, we're just one year older," Staton said. "We had six sophomores last year, and they're all juniors. We lost just one senior, and the kids are taking responsibility for their individual game."

CBBN boys: Southridge beats Eastmon in 2OT
KENNEWICK The Southridge boys basketball team was all but left for dead two weeks ago after losing eight of nine CBBN 3A matchups.
However, after pulling out its latest league win -- a 77-75 double-overtime victory over Eastmont in Kennewick -- the Suns are back on track for a playoff berth.
"We're still fighting!" Southridge coach Jason Devere exclaimed after Matt Mendenhall and David Mazzei combined for 47 points against the Wildcats. "This puts us in position to get in the playoffs."
