RICHLAND -- Hanford won a tight match with Kennewick in both teams' season and CBBN 3A openers Tuesday at Hanford.
Nikki Eldred's 25 kills and three aces led the Falcons to the 25-21, 28-26, 24-26, 27-25 victory.
"It was a good game," Hanford coach McKenzie Garberg said. "We started off a few games strong and let Kennewick get the better of us, playing their game. Kennewick came out fighting, but we were able to finish strong."

McIntyre leads KeHS volleyball past Kamiakin
KENNEWICK -- Kamiakin came out strong against host Kennewick on Thursday night and won 25-13 in the first set, but the Lions rallied for the remainder of the CBBN 3A matchup to tally wins of 25-23, 25-20, 25-16 and beat the Braves.
Meghan McIntyre led the Lions' attack with 11 kills, Lizzy Ridley pulled six aces out of her hat and the magic number was 20 for Caylee Engel (assists) and Brittany Evans (digs).
"We played really well and never gave up," Lions coach Julie Maciboba said. "I'm proud of their performance tonight."

KENNEWICK -- In the dead of night, Bryce Leavitt might dream of juking out a defender on the football field or basketball court.
But the Kennewick High School senior probably isn't catching any "z's." He likely is wide awake, working under the moonlight to make those dreams a reality.
Leavitt, who aspires to play college basketball, likes to practice his shot at night. But after some noise complaints, his parents decided he couldn't play past 10 p.m.
