One of the biggest reasons to love this area is the chance to do things outdoors.
For me, thats golf. I try to play twice a week with my buddies, but am lucky if I get out once.
Ive been lucky to play golf in Las Vegas, Costa Rica, Mexico and Hawaii. Golf in the Mid-Columbia can be comparable as far as quality of courses. Golf in the Mid-Columbia beats those other places as far as price.
Ive also had the chance to do some whitewater rafting in the Columbia River Gorge.
As Ive gotten older, Ive found myself attracted to other sports rather than the usual baseball, basketball and football things.
Ive started to hike (taking the trail from Cannon Beach to Seaside was tiring, but a blast). I plan on playing paintball again after having done it 20 years ago. And when I lose this extra weight, I want to skydive.
But right now, the perfect outdoors day for me is playing 18 holes with my pals.
Whats your perfect outdoors day?

Anyone is welcome to attend a 2 p.m. Saturday meeting at Applebee's on Columbia Center Boulevard in Kennewick. Organizers hope to set a date for the first disc golf event at the meeting.

Mid-Columbia well-represented at Seattle Golf Show
SEATTLE A trip Friday to the Seattle Golf Show, these days billed as the Seattle Golf and Travel Show , featured many familiar faces and signs for Mid-Columbia golfers.
And while the addition of the RV displays a large piece of "travel" part of the show pushed much of the golf exhibits well into the bowels of the CenturyLink Field Event Center, the combination of gray skies and RVers probably helped with Day 1 attendance.
Admission was $14 for adult, and the addition of the RV component, which was not part of the show when I last attended several years ago, also made parking ($11) in the CLink garage a rather time-consuming adventure.
