She won district titles in the 200-yard individual medley (2:21.77) and 100 freestyle (58.00) to qualify for the 3A state meet.

Mahaley Sapp, Jr., Pasco
She made six saves in regulation and two in the shootout as Bulldogs won the 4A CBBN district title with a 2-1 victory over Southridge

Maria Staley, Sr., Liberty Christian
She combined for 32 kills and 23 blocks in victories over Asotin, Dayton and DeSales that clinched the Patriots a No. 1 district seed.

Slate Gorton and Tim Ceis, former Seattle deputy mayor, drops Wenatchee, Ellensburg and the Columbia River Gorge from the 4th Congressional District represented by Pasco Republican Doc Hastings, but adds Okanogan County and parts of Adams and Walla Walla counties.
Gorton and Huff are two of four voting members of the state's Redistricting Commission, which has been given the task of redrawing the boundaries for the state's congressional and legislative districts before New Year.

Voters return incumbents to their seats
Voters were standing by the incumbents in the Richland School Board race on Tuesday.
In the race for Position 3, incumbent Rick Donahoe received 5,624 votes, or about 55 percent, over Gordon Comfort's 4,533.
For Position 4, incumbent Mary Guay had 5,218 votes, or nearly 52 percent, while Brian Barth received 4,877 votes.

2 pertussis cases confirmed in Kennewick
Officials with the Kennewick School District confirmed Thursday two cases of whooping cough at Cottonwood Elementary and Desert Hills Middle schools.
A third student was being examined for also possibly having the infectious disease.
Whooping cough, or pertussis, is known for the distinctive cough it causes. The disease is preventable through vaccination.
