Options still available for turning in ballots

By the Herald staff

Voters still have a couple of options for turning in their ballots.

Through 8 p.m. Tuesday, voters can deposit ballots in drop boxes at several locations in Benton and Franklin counties.

Benton County drop boxes are at the auditor's offices at 5600 W. Canal Place in Kennewick, 101 Wellsian Way, Suite E, in Richland, and 620 Market St. in Prosser.

In Franklin County, two drop boxes are at the TRAC Center, 6600 Burden Blvd. in Pasco, and one is at the auditor's election center at North Third Avenue and West Clark Street in Pasco.

Zona Lenhart, Franklin County auditor, said anyone in line at a drop box at 8 p.m. will be able to deposit their ballots there. But election workers will cut off anyone who tries to get in line at 8:01 p.m. or later, she said.

Ballots also can be submitted by mail as long as they are postmarked by Tuesday. The main post office at 3500 W. Court St. in Pasco will stay open until midnight Tuesday for mail-in ballots to be postmarked in time and counted.

Voters of any county will be able to use that post office for late-night drop-offs on election night.
