BEND, Ore. -- The Hermiston boys, led by district champion Jordan Ringe, qualified for state for the fifth straight season, losing by one point to Summit at the Intermountain meet.
The girls finished sixth but did have Cristal Delgado advance by placing sixth.

I had the good fortune of spending the afternoon at the Best of the West wrestling tournament at Pasco High School.
I had the wrestling beat when I first started working at the Herald, but the Tri-City Americans pulled me away from the mats. I really do enjoy the sport, and every once in a while, like today, I get a treat.

The Hermiston Bulldogs claimed a pair of titles at this weekend's Reser's Tournament of Champions in Hillsboro, Oregon. However, neither of them belong to Joey Delgado, who lost his first match in two years in the 138-pound final.

COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho -- Hermiston's Joey Delgado and Tyler Berger repeated as champions Saturday at Tri-State in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, perhaps the toughest high school tournament in the Northwest.
Delgado, a three-time state champ, won his second Tri-State title with an 11-4 victory over Orting's Shannon Maris in a battle of the top-ranked 138-pounders in Washington and Oregon.
Berger, just a sophomore, won the crown at 132 with a 7-6 victory over Tahoma's Joey Palmer in another battle of top-ranked guys.
