ST. JOHN -- Asotin's Chase Teigen led the boys and Victoria Nunez of Tri-Cities Prep led the girls at the District 9 league meet Wednesday in St. John.
Teigen finished the 5,000-meter varsity race in 15 minutes, 37 seconds and Waitsburg-Prescott's Seth Deal (15:51) and TC Prep's Nick Lumetta (15:59) filled the top three slots.

Tri-Cities Prep cross country teams qualify for state
CLARKSTON -- The Tri-Cities Prep program demonstrated its mettle Thursday as it placed seven boys and two girls among the top 15 individuals and both Jaguars teams qualified for state in the District 9 Cross Country Championship at Clarkston High School.
Waitsburg-Prescott junior Seth Deal led the boys in the 3-mile race with a time of 15 minutes, 30.75 seconds. Asotin's Chase Teigen took second (15:34.86), and TC Prep's Nick Lumetta (15:55.01), Skyler Larson (15:56.20) and Nick Fong (16:22.84) rounded out the top 5.
Colfax senior Morgan Wilson (17:07.49) placed first among the girls. TC Prep's Victoria Nunez (sixth, 20:24.27) and Yvonne Lumetta (14th, 21:18.82) posted the Jags' leading individual times to help TC Prep to a team allocation.
