Just for kicks, heres a multiple choice question. What in tarnation are these people talking about?
This is one more desperate attempt by Governor Gregoire to distract voters from the real issues of this campaign namely the $3.2 billion deficit shes created and our rising unemployment, Dino Rossi spokeswoman Jill Strait said.
Dino Rossi is misleading voters by hiding the fact that he is a Republican in lockstep with George Bush, in the same way he is misleading voters about his opposition to embryonic stem cell research, denial of global warming and support of restricting access to emergency contraceptives, said Chris Gregoire spokesman Aaron Toso.
Is it...
A. Rising unemployment
B. Stem cell research
C. A lawsuit filed by the state Democratic Party seeking to require Rossi to be identified as a Republican on general electon ballots instead of GOP.
The answer is (sigh) C. Thanks for playing.
BLOGGER'S NOTE: Pesonaly, I think both campaigns are trying to distract us all from the fact that the Cougs are awesome, that The Rolling Stones are the greatest rock band ever and that reality TV bites. Sam Barlow High School football rules!
UPDATE: I got this note from a loyal reader this morning, which I'll let stand without comment and allow the folly to speak for itself.
Chris,
I read your blog items every day. Sometimes I smile. Sometimes I grimace. Sometimes I shout at the computer monitor. But today you crossed the line with absolute BS.
You should retract your error in your latest blog and admit for all the world to hear that, in fact, the Beatles were the greatest rock and roll band ever.

Revenue proposal
Revenue proposal
I am increasingly concerned about the state budget cuts. About a year ago, I called state Sen. Jerome Delvin and was pleasantly surprised to hear back from him.
I shared an idea about increasing revenue in Washington. Maybe it's time that the state starts looking at how much we pay for license plate tabs. I did include in that conversation that what we used to pay 10 years ago was absolutely ridiculous, and sometimes it was $600 or more a year, depending on your vehicle.
My suggestion was to have a ceiling, possibly $245, and having the basement be $35. As your vehicle depreciated each year, the amount you paid for your tabs dropped each year by $30. Simple and easy to budget for as a taxpayer.

Election Day is here.
So if you have not yet made your vote count, dig out that unopened ballot, fill it in and drop the sealed envelope in a mailbox or one of several drop box sites in Franklin and Benton counties.
Eligible voters should have received a ballot in the mail at least 20 days ago.
Stop wind subsidies
Stop wind subsidies
Well, the verdict is in. Wind power is a scam, overrated, inefficient, very expensive and going to cost the electric ratepayers plenty.
I come to that verdict because The Oregonian, East Oregonian, LaGrande Observer, Albany Democrat-Herald and Tri-City Herald have had editorials/articles stating these facts.
Who brought these monstrosities to the Northwest. The federal government, Oregon and Washington legislatures, Govs. John Kitzhaber and Ted Kulongoski of Oregon, governors of Washington, U.S. Sens. Ron Wyden and Jeff Merkley, federal legislators from Washington and county commissioners on both sides of the Columbia River.

EDITORIAL: Public safety tax: Yes
EDITORIAL: Public safety tax: Yes
Franklin County's proposition for a public safety tax is sure to run into an anti-tax backlash.
But the proposal deserves more than a knee-jerk reaction against all new taxes. Voters should consider the facts and the safety of their community before acting.
The run-down and outdated Franklin County jail is woefully overcrowded, typically housing twice the number of inmates it was designed to accommodate. While inmates certainly don't deserve luxury accommodations, they are entitled to humane living conditions.
