RICHLAND -- The last Pacific Northwest Section PGA major of the year gets under way Monday at Meadow Springs Country Club in Richland with the three-round Northwest Open Invitational.
There will be 130 professional competing in the tournament, which has a pro-am both today and Sunday before the tournament proper gets going Monday.
Blaine professional Jeff Coston will defend his title.

RICHLAND -- Rick Torres, an Energy Northwest employee, was honored Monday for potentially saving the life of a little girl about the same age as his own daughters.
He was at a buffet in Las Vegas in July when he saw a girl, about age 2 or 3, choking. Her father was trying to administer the Heimlich maneuver, but Torres could see he was not doing it correctly.
Meanwhile, the little girl was changing color and her eyes were rolling back, said John Dobken, Energy Northwest spokesman.

Energy Northwest plans to continue its test of an alert siren between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. today at 350 Hills St. in Richland.
The test was scheduled to be completed Monday, but the weather forecast called for windy weather.

FBI says 'Bad Hair Bandit' arrested
The "Bad Hair Bandit," a serial bank robber that has hit numerous banks in the Northwest, including Richland, was arrested in California after her 20th heist, the FBI said Wednesday.
Cynthia Van Holland, 47, was caught by Placer County sheriff's deputies after she robbed the Bank of the West in Auburn, Calif. Auburn is northeast of Sacramento.
Investigators on the FBI Safe Streets Task Forces in Seattle and Sacramento said they believe Van Holland is the Bad Hair Bandit.

SEATTLE -- Richland High graduate Lindsey Wodrich had 12 kills and tied her career high with five service aces -- including her 100th in a Seattle Pacific volleyball uniform -- as the 24th-ranked Falcons took over sole possession of first place in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference by beating Montana State Billings 3-0 on Monday night.
Scores in Brougham Pavilion were 25-23, 25-15, 25-22.
Wodrich tied her previous career high of five aces, which she set at Alaska Anchorage as a freshman in 2008.
