A few odds and ends for you on a Wednesday.
Joe Turner has a story in this mornings News Tribune about the Catholic Churchs efforts to combat this years assisted suicide initiative, I-1000, and you can find it here.
Sen. Margarita Prentice, D-Renton, told Rich Roesler at the Spokesman-Review that efforts by Washington State University alums to oppose a $150 million taxpayer subsidy of a $300 million renovation of Husky Stadium is pretty pathetic.
You can find Roeslers post here and my earlier post on the subject here.
Speaking of Rich Roesler, hes plugging an online game, found here, produced by the liberal organization Fuse in which players throw pies at initiative promoter Tim Eyman. Youll find it difficult at first to nail him, as Eyman keeps ducking and reappearing elsewhere. So far, Ive managed to nail him six times in one game.
The Seattle Times has a story this morning breaking down the fundraising going on in the race for public lands commissioner, where incumbent Republican Doug Sutherland is getting a hot contest from Democrat Peter Goldmark. Its one of several down ballot races that will have to scream to be heard this year.
UPDATE: A colleague tells me she just nailed Eyman seven times. So, as they say, it's on. I invite readers to report your best scores, too.
UPDATE: Ha! I got eight. Sure hope the boss isn't reading this.
UPDATE: D'oh!

One would think, at a certain point, Tim Eyman just might see the long-term problems in some of the initiatives he manages to get on the ballot.
Now, Eyman is taking aim at the use of tolls to fund road improvement projects. Instead of having tolls decided by a nonpartisan panel, Initiative 1125 would require the Legislature to set the rates, turning funding for much-needed projects into political issues.
Tolls on roads and bridges are standard user fees. You only pay if you drive on the road where the toll booth is located. Over here in Eastern Washington, we don't have to worry about a toll on the proposed new six-lane Highway 520 floating bridge between Seattle and Bellevue.

TOLL: Eyman’s anti-tolling initiative too close to call
OLYMPIA A Tim Eyman initiative that would disrupt Washington's use of tolling and prohibit light rail from crossing the Interstate 90 bridge across Lake Washington was narrowly trailing in election returns Tuesday night.
Less than 51 percent of voters were opposing Initiative 1125 in early results tallied from 1.1 million votes. It was the only statewide ballot measure that was at risk of losing, sullied by broad opposition to the measure from Democratic Gov. Chris Gregoire to Republican gubernatorial candidate Rob McKenna.
Eyman said that no matter the final tally, the campaign had made tolls a radioactive issue for lawmakers.
