U.S. House, 4th District: Doc Hastings

Doc Hastings

Party: Republican

Candidate for: Congress - 4th District - Central Washington

Incumbent? Yes

Age: 67

Hometown: Pasco

Occupation: Congressman for Tri-Cities and Central Washington

50-word statement: It's been my honor and privilege to serve as your voice in Congress where standing up for the families and communities of Central Washington is my top priority. I proudly work across party lines to get things done in a common sense way.

Three priorities:

CREATE JOBS AND GROW LOCAL ECONOMY. This means having low tax policies, getting fair trade treatment in overseas markets for local farmers, ensuring a water supply for agriculture and other industry, and helping local communities with important job creating projects (Red Mountain winery development, Port of Pasco rivershore, Hanford cleanup jobs, build replacement labs for PNNL scientists, and more).

LOWER GAS AND ENERGY PRICES. I support an "all of the above" energy plan that says we must do everything possible to lower gas and energy prices by producing more American-made energy. We need to lift the ban on drilling offshore and at ANWR in Alaska. We need to invest in clean alternatives like wind and solar power, as well as investing in new technology research like hydrogen fuel cells and biofuels. Our country needs to build more nuclear power. And we must protect our clean, renewable hydropower dams.

LOW TAXES AND CONTROL GOVT SPENDING. I oppose raising taxes -- that kills jobs and hurts workers. I'm committed to stopping wasteful government spending and support a year-long ban on earmarks to end abuse and impose reforfms.
