Rep. Jim Dunn, R-Vancouver

Republican precinct committee officers in the 17th Legislative District over the weekend gave a near unanimous endorsement to Joseph James, who is taking on embattled Rep. Jim Dunn, R-Vancouver.
The secret ballot vote was 16-1. In a related story, Dunn in a precinct committee officer in the district.

UPDATE: The Columbians editorial board on Friday also recommended 17th District voters send James and Democrat Tim Probst to the general election. In doing so the board referred to Dunn as the incumbent of intolerable incompetence and said he is worthless in Olympia.

KENNEWICK -- Kennewick's Olympia Street south of 27th Avenue will have a major makeover, starting next spring.
A $2.8 million reconstruction project will bring a new roundabout to Olympia and 45th Avenue, with sidewalks, curbs, gutters and streetlights the full distance out to Highway 397.
City Engineer Dan Kaufman said the project also will take out some wiggles at the top of the hill on Olympia about 1 mile south of Highway 397.

Pasco superintendent to speak Monday
Superintendent Saundra Hill of the Pasco School District will be the keynote speaker at the Pasco Chamber of Commerce general membership luncheon Monday.
She will give an update on district achievements and challenges and address the upcoming levy election.
