Steve David was in an ideal place starting heat 2A from lane 1, and he and the U-6 Oh Boy! Oberto held off charges from J. Michael Kelly in the U-13 Graham Trucking and Jean Theoret in the U-37 Beacon Plumbing to win the heat.
Kelly actually led the field into the first turn, but David took over coming down the backstretch and never looked back.
Theoret, starting from lane 3, reeled in Kelly, passing him on turns 3-4 in the second lap to finish second.
Kelly was third in the heat, while Jimmy Shane never made it off the dock in the U-7 FormulaBoats.com II.
The heats are coming fast and furious right now, and the next flight of boats has already taken to the water for heat 2C.
More to come.
