Nate Brown's nephew works on qualifying laps

Nate Brown, who heads up the U-17 Our Gang Racing team, said his nephew, Kip Brown, still needs 13 more laps to qualify as an unlimited driver this weekend.

Kip was allowed to run in the Dash for Cash on the outside, and those laps would count against those 13 laps.

"Right now, we're just thrashing," said Nate, who said the Formulaboats.com team, the U-6 Oberto team and the U-1 Elam team donated parts to help get the team racing.

As for Kip, Nate is sure American Boat Racing Association officials will allow Kip to race today, even if he doesn't get the required 15 laps completed.
