OK, I'm outta here for a week, but before I head out, here's a couple tidbits to tide you over.
Prosser coach Tom Moore wrote in with an update on his son Kirby's recruiting progress -- he has received offers from Washington State, Boise State and Stanford (the latter after visiting the Palo Alto, Calif., campus last week).
For more of an update on Kirby and on Mustangs teammate Jordan Durbin, here's a story on WashingtonPreps.com to check out.
WashingtonPreps.com also had an item on Richland's Jamison Rowe that is definitely worth a look. He's drawing interest for both baseball and football from colleges.
Then I got a letter from Shawn in Longview, wanting to know which media representatives voted on the all-state teams.
OK, besides myself, I received votes this year from writers at the Bellingham Herald, Everett Herald, Skagit Valley Herald, Seattle Times, Seattle P-I, Kitsap Sun, Tacoma News Tribune, Olympian, Centralia Chronicle, Daily World, Longview Daily News, Vancouver Columbian, Yakima Herald-Republic, Wenatchee World and Spokesman-Review.
Granted, not everyone voted in every classifciation. But that's 16 of us from around the state putting our heads together on this. That's a pretty good number for all-state balloting -- trust me, having talked to the folks at AP who run the basketball and football voting, it's a good number.
Talk to you later.

Stop wind subsidies
Stop wind subsidies
Well, the verdict is in. Wind power is a scam, overrated, inefficient, very expensive and going to cost the electric ratepayers plenty.
I come to that verdict because The Oregonian, East Oregonian, LaGrande Observer, Albany Democrat-Herald and Tri-City Herald have had editorials/articles stating these facts.
Who brought these monstrosities to the Northwest. The federal government, Oregon and Washington legislatures, Govs. John Kitzhaber and Ted Kulongoski of Oregon, governors of Washington, U.S. Sens. Ron Wyden and Jeff Merkley, federal legislators from Washington and county commissioners on both sides of the Columbia River.
Initiative 1183: Yes
Initiative 1183: Yes
Hello, how did the drunken driver who hit and killed the person feature in the anti-Initiative 1183 ad buy his alcohol from a mini mart if the proposal hasn't even been voted on yet? I've been watching all of the vote "no" ads, and they all seem to lack common sense and are just trying to scare voters to vote against it. Please, get the state of Washington out of the liquor business and vote "yes."
