Troubled Tacoma prep star bound for Indiana State

From Herald news services

TACOMA -- Less than a month after being released from his national letter-of-intent by Washington State because of a series of traffic violations, quarterback Calvin Schmidtke signed to play at Indiana State.

Schmidtke, out of Lakes High in Lakewood, was considered one of Washington state's top high school players but continual off-field issues prompted new Cougars coach Paul Wulff to let Schmidtke go before he enrolled at the school.
