Our county commissioners are committed to keeping the county seat in Prosser. Leo Bowman and Claude Oliver do not represent the interests of their constituents in Richland and Kennewick. They need to be replaced.

As a fire commissioner serving on the Benton County Fire District 3 board, I know we need a person with board experience to be an active participant on the board. We need someone with no agenda or motives other than to serve and make the county safer and our fire department the best it can be. I feel that Gerry Sherman is the best candidate for this position.
Gerry has been attending yearly Washington State Fire Commissioner Association, Washington State Fire Chief's Association and Washington Finance Officers Association conferences to keep up to date on ever-changing board and fire department issues. Gerry's previous board member experience and 12 years as district secretary for Benton Co. District 6 make him, in my opinion, the best candidate for fire commissioner.

The Franklin County commissioners have called a special meeting for 9 a.m. Monday to evaluate complaints brought against a Franklin County Public Works manager accused of embezzling more than $1 million from the county over a decade.
The commissioners will discuss the complaints against Dennis M. Huston, 65, of Pasco, during a closed-door session.
Huston is being held on $500,000 bail on suspicion of first-degree theft, money laun-dering and cocaine possession.
