50-word statement: The Democrat state chairman is trying to overturn "Top 2," your opportunity to vote for any candidate in primaries. The Democrat Secretary of State candidate is against all postal mail elections, your opportunity to vote from home. However, I support "Top 2," and postal mail votes, (and the initiative system).
Three priorities: (1) All paper ballot votes.
(2) Random, professional checks on voting machines.
(3) Make Initiative system somewhat easier to get issues on the ballot.

Once again it is time to vote. This is something that much of the remainder of the world wants desperately to do. Many suffer and sometimes die performing this simple act. Many people in the U.S., our state and the Mid-Columbia take for granted this privilege and fail to exercise this basic right.
There are many good candidates running in our area. They have worked very hard, put in many hours and spent lots of hard-earned money just to get each one of your votes.
Please take the time to research all the candidates, look at their record, listen to what they have to say, then make an informed choice, but please vote for someone. We have done our part, please do your part, make those selections and mail those ballots in.

Across the Mid Columbia public schools are waiting for an answer to the same question. Will you support them? It is a simple yes or no answer, not a confusing multiple choice or essay.
Many districts with two-year levy renewal requests are waiting for you to return your ballots. If you need more information than what has been mailed to you, posted on websites, offered in public meetings or civic club luncheons, reported in the newspaper, on radio or through school events then it is time you call your school district office.
Local control of schools starts with your willingness to at least vote. Are you waiting for the state to fully fund education? So is the State Supreme Court.

Eligible voters should have received a ballot in the mail at least 20 days ago.
Benton Fire District 3: Sherman
Benton Fire District 3: Sherman
As a fire commissioner serving on the Benton County Fire District 3 board, I know we need a person with board experience to be an active participant on the board. We need someone with no agenda or motives other than to serve and make the county safer and our fire department the best it can be. I feel that Gerry Sherman is the best candidate for this position.
Gerry has been attending yearly Washington State Fire Commissioner Association, Washington State Fire Chief's Association and Washington Finance Officers Association conferences to keep up to date on ever-changing board and fire department issues. Gerry's previous board member experience and 12 years as district secretary for Benton Co. District 6 make him, in my opinion, the best candidate for fire commissioner.
Recently, the Benton County commissioners were asked to choose a person to fill a vacant commissioner position on Benton County Fire District 3 Board. Three applicants interviewed and Gerry Sherman was appointed to fill the position by the
