The defending National League champion Colorado Rockies have assigned 26 players from extended spring training to the Tri-City Dust Devils of the Northwest League.
The Dust Devils open the season June 17 in Vancouver, British Columbia.
Tri-Cities home opener is June 22 vs. Salem-Keizer in a rematch of the 2007 NWL championship series.
This group of players will be joined by several drafted by Colorado in last weeks First Year Player Draft. The following players are scheduled to report today to the rainy Tri-Cities.
Among the pitchers will be four former Dust Devils who begin the season in Tri-City on rehab stints. Josh Sullivan, Sean Jarrett, and Ethan Katz were members of the 2006 team, while Drew Coffey was a starter in 2007. Also returning to Tri-City are Austin Chambliss, Kenneth Durst, Andrew Groves, and Brandon Miller. Moving up a level from Casper (Wyo.) of the Pioneer League are Jonnathan Aristil, Parker Frazier, Juan Nicasio, David Parker, and Robert Paschal, while Michael Marbry joins the Dust Devils after spending the 2007 season in the South Atlantic League with Asheville, N.C.
Two catchers return to the Tri-Cities: Johnny Bowden and Jordan Pacheco. Pacheco was an infielder last season and has been converted to catcher. Another catcher, newcomer Jhaysson Agustin spent the 2007 season in Asheville.
The returning infielders are Radames Nazario and Derek Kinzler. Both spent part of the 2007 season in Pasco. They will be joined by Austin Rauch and Chris Vasami, both of whom moved up from Casper.
Josh Banda is the sole returning outfielder. Four others played in Casper in 2007: Brent Bowman, Chad Lembeck, Leonardo Reyes, and Scott Robinson.

Ocasio returns to the Tri-Cities for his seventh season as manager and 12th overall after guiding the Dust Devils to within one win of the Northwest League championship in 2011.
He also led the team to postseason appearances in 2007 and 2009.

The first time the Tri-City Dust Devils reached the Northwest League playoffs in 2007, they did it on the final day of the season.
As a result, the Dust Devils front office had less than 24 hours to promote ticket sales for Game 1 the next day at what is now Gesa Stadium.
This season, Tri-City clinched the first-half East Division title three weeks ago, making things a little easier for the staff to promote ticket sales for Games 2 and 3 at Gesa Stadium on Sept. 5-6.

The Tri-City Dust Devils got exactly what they needed today.
Well, a win of course. They needed that to keep their hopes of a Northwest League championship alive.
But it was more the spirit of the Dust Devils' 5-3 Game 2 win Saturday over Vancouver that put them in a great place heading into Sunday's game. It was one of those gritty, bloody-nose type battles that really lets you know what kind of team you really have.

PASCO -- Fresh off a record-setting season, the Tri-City Dust Devils added yet another feather in their caps Tuesday when Derrel Ebert, their general manager and vice president, was named the Northwest League's Executive of the Year.
Not bad for someone who had never before experienced a winning season.
"This award is a compliment to all those involved with Dust Devils baseball," Ebert said in a statement. "Our front office works extremely hard throughout the year, and we get great support from our fans, sponsors, the Colorado Rockies and the City of Pasco."

The Tri-City Dust Devils announced in a statement Friday that Washington State University graduate Chris King will be their new radio play-by-play announcer.
King, who graduated from WSU in 2009, spent three of the past four summers as the voice of the Wenatchee AppleSox of the West Coast League. He also does play-by-play for Boise State women's basketball.
Jason Schwartz, the Dust Devils' play-by-play announcer last summer, has a new gig. The USC graduate will broadcast for the Lancaster JetHawks of the California League.
