SPOKANE -- For the second time this week, Hanford's Jake Knox and Curtis Lan faced each other in a tournament final.
For the second time this week, Lan gave Knox a run for his money.
Lan pushed Knox to three sets Saturday in the title match of the 3A Eastern Regional boys singles bracket before Knox won 3-6, 7-5, 6-1 to earn the top seed to next week's state tournament in Kennewick.
On Monday, Knox defeated Lan 2-6, 6-4, 6-2 for the CBL 3A boys district title
Meanwhile, Kamiakin had an intramural contest of its own in the girls singles final as Brittney Reed defeated Caitlin Bampton 6-1, 6-3 for the championship.
Reed and Bampton will be joined by five other Braves -- boys doubles champions Peter Brown and Anh-Vu Thai, girls doubles champions Alison Welch and Demie Warner and boys singles No. 3 Josh Thornton -- at state starting Friday at Kamiakin High (boys) and the Tri-City Court Club (girls).
Kennewick's Nele Zorn beat East Valley's Miranda Brother 6-4, 6-1 in the third-place match of girls singles to also qualify for state.

4A Eastern Regionals
SPOKANE -- Elliot Martin and Chris Shallman of Richland defeated Ferris' Kevin Satre and Colin Siok 6-3, 7-5 to win the boys doubles title at the 4A Eastern Regional tournament at University High.
Martin and Shallman are the top seeds to next weekend's state tournament in Vancouver.
Joining them will be Bombers sophomore Troy Zuroske, who fell in the boys singles final 4-6, 6-2, 7-6 (4) to Ferris' Whitman Hough.
Moses Lake's Megan Frederick and Charleen Johnson denied Richland a third state entry, beating Laurel Thompson and Sydney Dautel 6-2, 6-2 in the winner-to-state match in girls doubles.

PORTLAND -- Hermiston junior Richole Berger won her third straight doubles state title, partnering with Alison Hawman to beat Sherwood's Katie Patterson and Melany Boulton 6-0, 6-0 in the 5A final at the Tualatin Hills Tennis Center.
Berger teamed with older sister Rebecca, now a freshman at Wyoming, for her first two titles.

SCAC districts
SUNNYSIDE -- Connell swept the doubles titles and Royal's Kelcy Jansen upset Wahluke's Justin Gallacci in the girls singles final at the SCAC district tournament.
Jansen beat Gallacci, who placed fourth at 1A state a year ago, in three sets.
In doubles, Jon Leschinski and Brad Fox beat the Knights' Michael Hebdon and Ben Singer 6-3, 6-2 in the boys final, and Lauren Booker and Anali Galvez routed Ashley Trapp and Jill Nicholson of Highland 6-4, 7-5.
