MATTAWA -- Warden and Othello were the big winners at the Eastern Washington girls regional wrestling tournament Saturday at Wahluke High in Mattawa.
Warden advanced eight wrestlers to state and had four champions; Othello won three individual titles and has six moving on to Mat Classic XXIV on Friday and Saturday at the Tacoma Dome.
The top three at each weight qualified for state. Team scores were not available, and tournament results were not posted until Saturday.

The Bears pushed six wrestlers through Saturday's SCAC regional at Zillah to finish in third place, led by the individual titles by McCallum at 132 pounds and Del Angel at 170.

WARDEN -- Trent Bates threw for 253 yards and three touchdowns as the Cougars held off the Warriors in a nonleague matchup.
Bates hooked up with Adam Hansen on 8- and 6-yard touchdown passes and Victor Flores for a 3-yard touchdown pass.
Francisco Cuevas led the Warriors, rushing 16 times for 72 yards and two touchdowns. Jaime Jimenez added 35 yards rushing, Jared Sabin had 33 yards and Ricardo Silverio had 31 yards.
