Northwest talent heads to Indy

Pasco High graduate Anthony Davis, who played linebacker in the NFL for the Seattle Seahawks, Kansas City Chiefs, Green Bay Packers and Baltimore Ravens, once told me that he felt like a piece of meat at the NFL Combine.
And why not? NFL scouts, trainers and doctors are checking and testing every square inch of your body.
It can be demeaning, but for the NFL, it's still the best way to determine which players to draft.
This week in Indianapolis, it's time for another combine, and there are plenty of Northwest players there being tested.
First and foremost is Central Washington University quarterback Michael Reilly, who played quarterback at Kamiakin up through his junior year before transferring to Flathead Lake, Mont.
According to NFLDraftScout.com, here is the take on Reilly: "The 2008 Great Northwest Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Year wooed scouts to CWU with his size, athleticism and outstanding production. He completed 64 percent of his passes over his four years as a starter for 12,448 yards, 118 touchdowns and only 40 interceptions. Still, he has some questions to answer about his arm strength and the level of competition he faced before being more than a late-round pick or priority free agent."
Reilly's CWU teammate, tight end Jared Bronson, is also attending the combine.
From Washington State, wide receiver Brandon Gibson is attending.
From Washington, center Juan Garcia, who prepped at Eisenhower in Yakima, is there.
Also attending from Oregon State: defensive end Victor Butler, cornerback Brandon Hughes, offensive lineman Andy Levitre, cornerback Keenan Lewis and wide receiver Sammie Stroughter.
Attending from Oregon: cornerback Jairus Byrd, strong safety Patrick Chung, defensive tackle Ra'Shon Harris, running back Jeremiah Johnson, offensive tackle Fenuki Tupou, offensive lineman Max Unger and wide receiver Jaison Williams.
From Idaho, fullback Eddie Williams is attending. (Sidenote: Interesting that T.J. Conley, the All-American punter from DeSales, is not attending).
From Boise State: wide receiver Jeremy Child and running back Ian Johnson.
