SEATTLE -- University of Washington basketball coach Lorenzo Romar announced Monday that 6-foot-9 sophomore forward Brendan Sherrer had made the 14th-ranked team as a walk-on.
The Huskies found Sherrer in a walk-on tryout camp held last month while seven of their regular players were out sick.
So many were missing, the team couldn't fully begin practicing until a week after it had planned to.
The 240-pound Sherrer is from Monroe, and played for Archbishop Murphy High School in Everett.
He is the first walk-on to make the team since 2004.
