PULLMAN -- The 17th hole proved the undoing for Drew Reinland during the third round of the 83rd Washington State Amateur at Palouse Ridge Golf Club in Pullman.
Reinland, who just finished his junior year at Walla Walla High, led the tournament until double-bogeying the 527-yard par-5 after he couldn't find his ball in the fescue off his drive.
Meanwhile, Derek Berg -- the runner-up at last year's State Am -- made an eagle on the hole.
Reinland shot a 2-under 70 for the round, but the four-shot swing gave Berg the lead at 6-under 210, one shot better than Reinland going into today's final round.
"I don't have anything to lose," Reinland said. "Top 20 was what I was hoping (to finish). I'm not supposed to be in this position, so if I play good, great. If not, I've got another tournament coming up."
Kennewick's Kevin Tucker, who just finished his junior season at WSU, is three shots back at 3-under 213 after shooting a third-round 73.
