PASCO -- The Columbia Basin College volleyball team is headed back to the NWAACC tournament for the third straight season.

The Hawks (23-18, 9-5), who placed third last season, enter as the No. 4 seed from the East Region and take on Edmonds (35-10, 11-1), the top seed from the North Region, in a first-round match at 9 a.m. Thursday at Mount Hood CC in Gresham, Ore.

Baseball

Columbia Basin College sophomore Phil Liniger signed a letter of intent to play for Indiana State University.

Liniger, a Kamiakin High graduate, led the Hawks' offense last season with a .403 batting average, 17 doubles and 50 RBIs.

"I was pretty open-minded with (choosing a place to play)," Liniger said. "I wanted to play ball and it really didn't matter where I went."
