Bears top Dust Devils

HERALD STAFF

Justin Parker hit a two-run triple to highlight a three-run first inning and the Yakima Bears went on to defeat the Tri-City Dust Devils

5-3 on Monday night at Yakima County Stadium.

Sean Morgan

(1-3) gave up only one run on two hits over six innings to earn his first victory over the season. He struck out six and walked three.

Tri-City starter Parker Frazier (5-5) surrendered five runs -- three earned -- on eight hits in six innings.

The Dust Devils, trailing

5-1, got within striking distance in the seventh on an RBI double by Leonardo Reyes and a sacrifice fly from James Sims to make it 5-3. But Bears relievers Jason Durst and Jordan Meaker each threw a scoreless inning to secure the win.

Tri-City, which managed only three hits on the night, fell to 35-38, while Yakima improved to 26-47.
