Both of our critics have reviewed the graphic-novel-turned-film Watchmen, so I won't bother throwing my two cents into the movie-reviewing fountain, except to say that it was mind-blowingly entertaining.
Billy Crudup, who puppets the nude Dr. Manhattan, said he was disappointed with how Manhattan's manly bits looked up on the big screen, saying "It was cold on Mars..." Sure, Crudup... Sure it was.
But it was Patrick Wilson's bare ass that really gets camera time. For gaining 25 pounds, he still looked delicious.
Of course there's the guy-candy Malin Akerman, who has no problem gyrating her goodies on screen. If her career somehow goes south, she could always be in the soft-core industry.
I'm not sure what it is with mainstream entertainment being obsessed with nudity and sex. Take the horror-shooting video game F.E.A.R. 2, where the nude ghost sexually assaults the main character... Which doesn't make sense, considering the ghost is...well, a ghost. It was a very Anna Nicole Smith moment, I guess.
Onto music news, mega-band Coldplay has a new music video which further explains why I fear puppets. The humorous video shows what most of us would do if we saw puppets doing un-puppet-like things, such as walking out into the open without strings. While some of us may scream or drop-kick them, a lot of us would probably stand there, jaw-dropped, and see what they did next.
A man contacted me, apparently trying to see what I would do next. He explained how unaware he was about the Tri-City music scene. "Would you like to grab some coffee?" he asked. I normally don't meet complete strangers for no reason, but since it was in an open area, I felt somewhat safe.
The guy proceeded to fill me in on what was wrong with music these days, how artists are dumb for not letting producers cash in on their merchandise, and some other things I can't remember. He was a nice gentleman, but I really felt like he just wanted someone to talk to.
"Uhh, was there something you wanted?" I asked. I seriously had no idea why I was there, except to be his coffee buddy, and I already had plenty of those.
I had come baring a list of 15 bands I thought he would be interested in contacting, since he did have his own mixing studio. I thought that was the main reason for us meeting, but by the time I left, I wasn't so sure anymore.
Since I had ingested coffee, I knew I was going to be up all night. Mr. Big and I decided to utilize this opportunity to watch a movie, since nobody really packs the theaters the first day of the week.
I broke out the "big purse" and stuffed it with plastic baggies filled with pizza, chocolates and pan-fried squash. We ate like kings in the theater and nobody was none the wiser.
