Today is Earth Day, where we pretend to appreciate mother nature and all that she has done for us - then continue on our mundane existence of depleting the ozone.
If you're actually interested, NASA has a site dedicated to ozone watching. Check it out. You'll feel good for about five seconds.
I enjoyed this take on the Kleenex commercials, telling you not to touch their tissues because you're encouraging the use of these products which result in more and more trees being cut down.
Keeping along the same lines of cuteness, Apocalypse Meow is a new Japanese computer-generated anime series that follows really adorable looking animals who are used instead of humans to reenact parts of the Iran hostage crisis. The series won't be available until 2010, but you can catch a glimpse of it below. Warning: This series is not meant for younger audiences. Though the cute and fuzzy animals may at first entice you, be warned - there is extreme violence throughout the series not suitable for children. It's kind of like Happy Tree Friends, but more realistic-looking.
Finally, I leave you with this awesome video of clowns. I hate clowns, so why would I promote a video with them in it? Simple: It's a video of clowns getting shot. Sure, sounds a bit depressing, but it's done in a very artistic way. Think Batman meets The Matrix. This little over 2 minute clip for Philips televisions explores a frozen moment that extends from the streets through a building and back to the streets. Appropriately titled Carousel, the clip is extremely well made and will have you asking "Why do people even like clowns?"
