I finally watched an episode of Doctor Who, the longest running sci-fi series, or something. The popular British show is addicting in the way that Korean dramas suck you in with plot twists around every corner. And yes, The Doctor has terrific hair. Allons-y!
If you've ever been to Asia, you'll know that photo booths are all the rage. Yes, I said "all the rage." Because it's true - they're this weird phenomenon. I suppose there's this urge to document everything with either your camera phone or photo booth.
While in Korea three years ago, I was extremely impressed by what you could do inside these photo booths. You can add your own personal touch on the photo by drawing on it, adding shapes like stars and hearts, even change the background. Basically you can turn your regular, mundane photo into a cartoon.
One thing you'll see in these pictures are people doing funny poses. One in particular is making a heart with the help of another person. You take your right arm up and over your head toward your left, as if stretching, and the other person does the opposite. Viola! Typical Asian pose.
I tested my theory that even the cheesiest of poses is ingrained in our DNA with Mr. Big. As we laid in bed, watching the Korean Broadcast Station, I lifted my right arm over my head toward his. Without hesitation, he lifted his left arm to meet mine, forming a giant heart, then quickly realized what he was doing. I immediately busted up laughing.
Sure, this may have been unusually more funny because I was suffering from a cold and doped up on NyQuil. Perhaps I need the help from The Doctor...to transport me to the future when I'm no longer sick.
In the future I wonder if people will be using these flat lightbulbs. Developed by Korean designer Joonhuyn Kim, the lightbulb is supposed to be 1/3 smaller, reducing the cost of packaging and transport. I dunno, though. I read the book Flat Stanley, and sometimes it's not better to be thin.
Combine thin lightbulbs with Gummi Bears and you have another thing that freaks me out. Won't it melt? Will it catch on fire? Why waste all those yummy red and yellow bears?
I'll leave you with an awesome YouTube guitarist named Sam Hart who writes amazing songs. This one is about Supervillain's New Year's resolutions. It's pretty funny, so check it out:
