For those of you who enjoy bundling with Charter Communication services, I ask you to think outside of the box... that is, your cable box.
We switched to Dish Network this week. The main reason? To be closer to Korea.
I've been enjoying our two Korean channels, Arirang and KBS. Arirang is geared more towards Korean Americans and offer English subtitles. KBS is full-on Korean all the time.
There's a show called Let's Speak Korean where two hosts use movies and skits t teach viewers three new phrases in Korean and how to use them properly. It's pretty funny and actually really effective. I busted them out with Mr. Big a couple days ago and he had no idea what just happened.
"Where did you learn that?!" he asked with wide eyes.
The Korean channels are also a great way for me to catch up on my Kpop. Korean pop culture (referred to as Kpop) is so addicting. All of the women are beautiful - it's hard to stop staring at them. Don't believe me? Look up Hyori Lee and see if you don't develop a girl-on-girl crush.
I used to laugh at my friends who would talk about how addicting Korean soap operas are. They are so dramatic and over the top, yet so brilliantly executed that the cheesiness and continuous plot turns work.
When I'm watching it by myself, I mimic the characters out loud and practice certain words and accents. Mr. Big will occasionally walk past our door and laugh to himself at the sound of hearing me shout out random words in a foreign language.
As far as an overall review of Dish Network, I really couldn't say. I've been in Korea-world for the past week.
