Do you smell it? High school football is in the air...(w/video)

Video: Pre-PAX Nerdcore Concert

While in Seattle last weekend, my girlfriends and I settled on a date to go to Vegas. Yes, the city of sin.

I went there once when I was about 15. Not as much fun when you're underage. I did, however, go bungee jumping at Circus Circus.

This girls-only trip is long overdue. We've talked a big game about going to several places, but nothing ever transpired. Finally, we're looking up ticket prices and hotels.

This gives me ideas...if Vegas is a cheap destination, but extremely fun, then why not do a bachelorette party there? I used to be against it, but now I'm sort of thinking, Why not?

First, I would have to get engaged...which is the hot topic in my life these days. No, I'm not engaged, but that doesn't mean I'm not already thinking about it. Talks of moving in with Mr. Big have begun (or continued, depending on how you look at it) and I'm actually this-close to breaking my lease.

But breaking my lease would cost $1000, something that makes me a little sick to my stomach. However, saving money in the long run vs losing money every month? Plus, instead of him chipping in for my apartment on top of payments for his own house, he'd be saving more for that all too important big sparkly ring.

So far, the girls and I don't have any plans while in Vegas, except to go out every night and lay by the pool during the day. One girl brought up Stripper 101 classes, where they teach you how to work a pole. Yes, I understand what that may seem like, but don't judge - it sounds like a great work out.

Speaking of working out, my legs got worked this past weekend, running around in high heels. I finally got around to editing the Nerdcore Concert at PAX, so here's a quick mash up of Beefy and YTCracker. Oh, and a quick clip of me singing while drunk. It was great fun...at least I think it was.

One thing that doesn't sound like fun, is high school football. King Andy walked in this morning and asked, "Can you smell it? It's in the air...high school football!"

Every year we aggressively cover the fall sport. Every year it's a royal pain in my ass. I don't mind the sport, just not at a high school level. I appreciate college sports, because there, people want to be there and have everything to lose, whereas professionals are more concerned with making money than the love of the game. And high school? They're still worrying about who to take to the prom.

So, through rain and snow, we cover almost every local high school football game. This year we're raising the bar and covering three games every Friday night, plus live blogging and immediate score board stats online. It sounds cool if you're into all that, and even I can appreciate what we do. It just still sucks, standing in an upgraded cardboard box, videotaping for three hours, then heading back to the office to edit/upload for another two hours. Not the best way to spend a Friday night.

It could be worse...I could be like that guy on Dirty Jobs and have to try my hand at different unwanted careers every week. But at least that guy gets paid a bunch AND has his own show.

I've decided I don't want my own show...I want to put shows together. Preferably commercials. I enjoy a good commercial and will almost always discuss them with friends. Funny commercials like the ones with Andrew Zimmern on the Travel Channel are the best.

My department may not be eating hen uterus or haggis, but we are getting carry-out from Hubby's Pizza...mmm, pepperoni and mushrooms...
