CBL teams end dual season today

It's the calm before the postseason storm this week as athletes put the finishing touches on their training before the start of the three-week push to a hoped-for state title.
For CBL teams, that means the season-ending dual meets today that will decide the regular-season league titles.
The big meet is at Ron Redden Field, where Kamiakin will play host to a four-team meet that includes Southridge. Both the Braves and Suns are unbeaten in league duals in both boys and girls.
The Walla Walla boys and Richland girls pretty much have locked up the 4A dual-meet titles. Wa-Hi is at a four-team meet at Davis, while Richland travels to a three-team meet at Moses Lake.
There also are a couple of invitationals in the Mid-Columbia this weekend. Connell holds the 11th annual Ochoa Invite on Friday night, with 24 teams on tap to attend. The following day, Prosser holds the 49th annual Mustang Rotary Invite.
Still no good news for defending 4A state high jump champion Cody McCargar of Richland. The senior injured his groin during a recruiting trip to the University of Mary in North Dakota, and the injury has not responded to several treatments. Bombers coach Jim Qualheim said McCargar, who has jumped only once this year -- clearing 6 feet -- will sit out today's dual and Saturday's Prosser Invite and try to jump at districts. "We'll see what happens, but obviously that's going to be the drop-dead point," Qualheim said. ... Eisenhower pole vaulter Levi Hill, who set his career best here last year at 14-3, suffered a broken ankle in warm-ups at the Pasco Invite and is out for the season.
