Villwock wins Evansville as 3 boats flip on wild day on Ohio

EVANSVILLE, Ind. -- Dave Villwock drove Miss Ellstrom Elam Plus to victory in the Thunder on the Ohio in Evansville, Ind., unlimited hydroplane race Sunday, his 10th win in the last 12 Thunder races.

Villwock finished with an average speed of 140.203 mph over the final 10-mile heat, which capped a day that was marred by boat flips in three consecutive preliminary heats.

None of the drivers was seriously injured. They were Jeff Bernard, in the FormulaBoats.com, Jean Theoret in the Miss Beacon Plumbing, and Mike Allen, in FormulaBoats.com II.
