Theoret, Villwock win Evansville heats

Dave Villwock piloted the U-16 Miss Elam Plus to victory in Heat 1B of the Saturday elimination heats at the Thunder on the Ohio in Evansville, Ind., averaging 143.592 mph in the six-mile heat and edging Jimmy King in the U-3 Master Tire.

Mike Allen in the U-1 FormulaBoats.com. settled in for third, while the U-6 Oh Boy! Oberto driven by Steve David was fourth. J Michael Kelly in the U-13 Spirit of Detroit took fifth.

Jean Theoret in the U-37 Miss Beacon Plumbing showed what he could do, running away with Heat 1A.

Jeff Bernard was able to settle behind Theoret to take second, Greg Hopp in the U-100 Mirage Boats was third, and rookie David Bryant and the U-10 Miss Ahern Rentals took fourth. Ken Muscatel in the U-25 Superior Racing did not finish.

Two more sets of elimination heats are scheduled for today before the winner-take-all final is run.
