David gets redeeming 2C victory

Steve David turned a somewhat conservative start into a flawless victory in the U-6 Oh Boy! Oberto, giving the team some much-needed breathing room in points after yesterday's miscue turned a seeming victory into a fourth place finish because of a jumping the gun penalty.

"We've got to do that next heat, too," David said of the victory. "We're set up to try to win this thing and that's what we're shooting for."

Jimmy King challenged for one lap in the U-3 Hoss Mortgage/Ronald McDonald House, but cruised to a stop at the start of the second lap when the motor let go.

"We've lost a motor, so we're probably pretty much done for the day," said U-3 owner Ed Cooper, Jr.

J. Michael Kelly finished in second in the U-13 Spirit of Detroit, while Greg Hopp was third in the U-100 Mirageboats.com.

More heat racing is coming up in just a few minutes. Stay tuned to Hydro Town.
