3C: Villwock goes 3 for 3 in Columbia Cup prelims

Dave Villwock did his usual, nailing a perfect start and running away to get his third victory in three preliminary heats for the Lamb Weston Columbia Cup. Villwock was pushed out to lane two by Greg Hopp in the U-100 Mirageboats.com, but beat him handily through the first turn and never looked back.

"We'll look at all the things we need to do and try not to beat ourselves, and take a swing at it," a stoic Villwock said of the progression to the final heat.

Hopp finished second in the U-100, just outside the roostertail, followed by David Williams in the U-48 Miss Lakeridge Paving. Brian Perkins finished fourth in his first front-row start as an unlimited driver. He had previously been trailing the field.

A slight breeze has whipped up on the course as we await the consolation race at 3:15. We'll get a field lineup for you shortly.
