WALLA WALLA -- Walla Walla head football coach Marc Yonts announced Friday he is resigning his position after 14 years.

A strong season for the Southridge football team led to a lot of Suns shining in the Columbia Basin Big Nine's postseason awards.

YAKIMA -- It didn't take long -- barely enough time to thaw out from the freezing night -- for Southridge's locker room at Zaepfel Stadium to transform from a room full of faces crumbled in tears to one filled with smiling hugs.

SPOKANE -- Quick-strike offense coupled with timely and opportunistic defense against a mistake-prone foe provided the ingredients to propel Ferris into a State 4A football quarterfinal appearance.

RICHLAND -- Hanford football coach Rob Oram had no trouble assessing his team's 48-14 loss to Greater Spokane League Champion Mount Spokane in the first round of the state 3A playoffs at Fran Rish Stadium on Friday night.

Kamiakin and Southridge find themselves in similar football waters tonight, both playing on the road in the first round of the 4A state playoffs.

SPOKANE -- There was nothing particularly fancy about Southridge's offensive attack.

YAKIMA -- Austin Schilling scored a pair of touchdowns, but Walla Walla couldn't slow down Eisenhower's Joe Fuerst -- 211 yards and touchdown in the regional play-in game.

PASCO -- Devante Lamb ran for 169 yards and a touchdown and Pasco's defense ended the season on a high note, limiting Shadle Park to just 13 yards on the ground at Edgar Brown Stadium.

SPOKANE -- One field goal in two overtimes was all either team could muster, but it was enough to end Moses Lake's season in a state play-in game.

SPOKANE -- Danny Almeida's 4-yard TD run in the fourth quarter allowed Sunnyside to avoid being shut out by No. 7 Mount Spokane at Joe Albi Stadium.

SPOKANE -- Central Valley's defense was late to the State 4A play-in game.

RICHLAND — Rob Oram had a feeling that his team would respond to its beatdown last week against Davis.

RICHLAND — The game held no meaning in the standings.

YAKIMA -- Daniel Ortega returned the opening kickoff 66 yards for a touchdown, and Cascade champion Eisenhower cruised from there, leading 37-0 after three quarters en route to a CBBN crossover win over Pasco.

WALLA WALLA -- Gary Winston ran in from 18 yards out for the game-winning touchdown in the fourth quarter, leading Walla Walla to a CBBN crossover win over Moses Lake.

WENATCHEE -- Wenatchee, the Columbia Division top seed, led 30-0 at halftime and cruised past Richland in a CBBN crossover game.

RICHLAND -- Davis capitalized on six Hanford turnovers and rolled to a CBBN crossover victory over the Falcons at Fran Rish Stadium.

SUNNYSIDE -- Israel Manzo returned a punt 74 yards for a score, and Leo Cuellar had a 30-yard TD on an interception return as Sunnyside romped past West Valley to clinch the CBBN's No. 2 seed to next week's regional playoffs.

KENNEWICK -- After weeks of enduring frenetic finishes, the Kamiakin faithful finally got something Friday night they'd craved:

WALLA WALLA -- Gary Winston caught a pair of touchdown passes from Michael Weisner in the fourth quarter as Walla Walla rallied from a 21-7 halftime deficit to defeat Richland 35-21 in CBBN Cascade play Friday night at Borleske Stadium.

MOSES LAKE -- Dylan Signorelli threw five touchdown passes for Moses Lake, which built a 40-7 halftime lead en route to a CBBN Columbia victory.

EAST WENATCHEE -- Joe Fuerst ran for 196 yards and two touchdowns as ninth-ranked Eisenhower completed an undefeated CBBN Cascade season.

YAKIMA -- Blair Dorn's 1-yard TD run in the fourth quarter sealed fifth-ranked Wenatchee's CBBN Columbia win over Davis, which lost its 60th straight league contest.

YAKIMA -- Brenton Griffith threw for two touchdowns and ran for another to lead Hanford to a Cascade Division win over West Valley and a sweep of the CBBN's other two 3A teams.

KENNEWICK -- It was almost a perfect piece of cosmic irony.

KENNEWICK -- For more than a little while, the Kennewick Lions looked like they really had something going Friday night.

RICHLAND -- There were no big speeches or adjustments made by the Kamiakin coaches at halftime of Friday's CBBN Cascade game against Richland.

YAKIMA -- Brenton Griffin ran for a pair of touchdowns and Pete Hanson kicked two field goals, but it wasn't enough for Hanford to stop Eisenhower from clinching a share of the CBBN Cascade title.

MOSES LAKE -- Dylan Signorelli kicked two field goals, connected once with receiver Joey Johnson and twice with Jordan Wilks for touchdowns, and Moses Lake topped Davis in CBBN Columbia play.

SUNNYSIDE -- Jacob Sealby rushed for 312 yards and two touchdowns, and Wenatchee wrapped up the CBBN Columbia title at Clem Senn Field.

WALLA WALLA -- Gary Winston ran for one score and caught a TD pass as Walla Walla won in CBBN Cascade play at Borleske Stadium and officially ended Chiawana's playoff chances.

RICHLAND -- By the time Hanford had secured a badly needed 21-14 Columbia Basin Big Nine Cascade Division win over Eastmont on Friday night at Fran Rish Stadium, fans had witnessed a game that appeared to have been decided three times.

WENATCHEE -- Jacob Sealby ran for 168 yards and a touchdown, and No. 6 Wenatchee held Moses Lake to 7 yards rushing en route to a CBBN Columbia victory.

SUNNYSIDE -- Israel Manzo returned a kickoff 82 yards for a touchdown to answer Davis' go-ahead score with 3:23 remaining, lifting Sunnyside to a CBBN Columbia victory.

KENNEWICK -- Trey Ralston-Loera was begging for another chance. Corey Hutchison was hoping for a few extra counts in the pocket.

PASCO -- Richland and Chiawana had to consider Friday night's matchup at Edgar Brown Stadium as a playoff game.

It's one thing for Southridge to shut out Davis, as the Suns did a week ago.

Southridge can take a big step toward locking up second place in the CBBN Columbia tonight when it travels to Edgar Brown Stadium to take on a reeling Pasco team.

PASCO -- The Sunnyside football team has woken up with many a homecoming hangover, a small 3A school that over the years has been a preferred opponent for other team's celebrations.

RICHLAND -- Being first is usually a good thing. But not when it comes to being the first ones to lose to your intracity rival.

YAKIMA -- Michael Weisner tossed two TD passes, and Austin Schilling scored a pair of touchdowns as Walla Walla romped to a CBBN Cascade win.

YAKIMA -- Joe Fuerst ran for 144 yards and a pair of fourth-quarter touchdowns, including one with 5:47 to play that gave Eisenhower the lead for good as the Cadets beat Kamiakin in a matchup of CBBN Cascade unbeatens.

WENATCHEE -- Jacob Sealby ran for 159 yards and two TDs on 25 carries to lead No. 5 Wenatchee to a nonleague win.

KENNEWICK -- Quarterback Dylan Signorelli and the Moses Lake Chiefs had planned on throwing the ball all over the lot against the Kennewick Lions on Friday night.
