Three Chiawana players and one from Kamiakin were named to first teams when The Associated Press released its all-state football team Friday. Meanwhile, Connell star Matt Hadley capped his second state championship season in three years with a third consecutive 1A player of the year award.

As the years pass, Connell High School will most certainly add more football championship banners to its gymnasium rafters. The tradition established there is bigger than any one player or one graduating class.

KENNEWICK -- Do not bring up any nonsense of a moral victory to the Kamiakin football team. Not to the players, not to the coaches.

Perhaps it is no coincidence that the last three football teams alive from the CBBN 3A are the only three with running backs over 1,000 yards rushing.

KENNEWICK — When you see what Grant Woods has accomplished this year for the Kennewick Lions football team -- leading the CBBN 3A in rushing, touchdowns and scoring -- it may surprise you to know that this is his first and only season as a starter at running back.

KENNEWICK -- A double dose of playoff football is set for Saturday at Lampson Stadium, with the Southridge Suns (7-3) taking on the Kennewick Lions (9-1) at noon, and Kamiakin Braves (10-0) entertaining Seattle Prep (9-1) at 3 p.m.

SPOKANE -- The Pirates once again won't be going to the state playoffs, as they were blitzed from the start at Joe Albi Stadium.

PASCO -- The Pasco Bulldogs rallied for a victory to stave off a winless season, beating visiting North Central 24-21 at Edgar Brown Stadium on Thursday in a CBBN-GSL non-advancing crossover game.

EAST WENATCHEE -- Kamiakin finished the CBBN 3A regular season undefeated Friday night after the Braves routed Eastmont 41-17.

KENNEWICK -- The Southridge Suns did just about everything right Friday, while defeating West Valley 33-14 in a CBBN 3A game at Lampson Stadium.

YAKIMA -- Trevon Harris rushed for 196 yards and Kolney Cassel threw for 260 yards and five touchdown as Eisenhower rolled past visiting Walla Walla.

SUNNYSIDE -- Israel Manzo ran for 217 yards and two touchdowns, and kicked field goals of 20 and 27 yards to lead Sunnyside to a home win over Hanford.

PASCO -- All Chiawana coach Steve Graff needed was one yard from Miquiyah Zamora.
