By the Herald staff

KENNEWICK -- Kickoff is 7 p.m. today, Lampson Stadium (KHSS 100.7 FM)

Last quarterfinal appearances: Colfax, 2002; DeSales, 2007.

Coaches: Colfax, Mike Morgan (10th year, 74-31); DeSales, Mike Spiess (6th year, 48-9).

Colfax leaders: RB Joseph Cammack, sr. (5-10, 195) 1,000 yards, 13 TDs; RB Ethan Smith, sr. (5-11, 210) 800 yards, 8 TDs; QB Alex Teade, soph. (6-0, 170).

DeSales leaders: RB Bryce Hayunga, sr. (6-0, 190) 216-1453-15 rush, 17-114-2 rec; QB Pat Richard, jr. (6-0, 165) 95-711-7 rush, 99-198-6-1119, 13 TDs pass; WR Marcus Spiess, sr. (6-0, 170) 21-265-3; WR Tim Richard, sr. (5-9, 170) 22-233-2.

The Irish avenged one early-season loss last week in the first round, beating La Salle 27-10 to reach the quarterfinals for the fifth time in six years. Now, the defending state champs get another shot at Northeast League champion Colfax, which defeated the Irish 20-10 in Week 3.

The Bulldogs run the triple option but had success throwing the ball against DeSales in their first meeting. WR/DB Tim Richard missed the first meeting because of illness; his addition should make a difference for the Irish on both sides of the ball.
