WAITSBURG -- For many sports-loving families, Thanksgiving wouldn't be complete without football.

WALLA WALLA -- Before Bellevue became the gold standard of Washington high school football teams, there was DeSales.

PASCO -- Colfax High School football coach Mike Morgan thought he might have the Waitsburg-Prescott offense figured out, but Waitsburg-Prescott coach Jeff Bartlow wasn't so sure about the undefeated Bulldogs.

PASCO -- For the third consecutive season, the Waitsburg-Prescott football team is facing Colfax or elimination.

PASCO -- Here is a preview of today's state 2B semifinal of the Waitsburg-Prescott Cardinals vs. the Colfax Bulldogs:

Billy Brown ran for 171 yards and two touchdowns, and Zach Bartlow threw for two TDs and returned a fumble 88 yards for another score as Waitsburg-Prescott cruised to a 42-7 win over Lind-Ritzville/Sprague in a 2B state quarterfinal at Edgar Brown Stadium.

WAITSBURG-PRESCOTT CARDINALS VS. LIND-RITZVILLE/SPRAGUE BRONCOS

WAITSBURG -- W-P junior Billy Brown hit and ran over the 1,000-yard career rushing milestone with 198 yards and a touchdown as the Cardinals rumbled to a 2B state first-round home victory over Brewster by a 48-7 margin to set up a home quarterfinal matchup later this week against Lind-Ritzville.

WHITE SWAN -- Jeremiah Cox threw for 258 yards and three TDs but DeSales' defense struggled to stop the run as White Swan advanced in the state 2B playoffs with a 34-20 victory.

COLFAX -- Adam Hansen ran in a 58-yard pass from Trent Bates in the first quarter, but the Cougars couldn't find the end zone after that in a 2B state playoff game.

WHITE SWAN — Here is a preview of the DeSales Fighting Irish vs. White Swan Cougars Class 2B state football playoff:

PRESCOTT -- Zach Bartlow rushed for a pair of first-quarter touchdowns as Waitsburg-Prescott led 40-14 at halftime and cruised over visiting Kettle Falls in the first round of the state playoffs.

OROVILLE -- Trent Bates had three touchdowns on a 139-yard passing performance as Warden rolled to an easy Central Washington 2B regional playoff victory over visiting Oroville.

WALLA WALLA -- Joe Duehn ran in a four-yard pass from Jeremiah Cox and kicker Arturo Martinez scored the PAT to give DeSales the edge it needed for an overtime victory at home over Reardan in a battle for the Southeast 2B district's No. 4 state seed.

DAVENPORT -- The Jaguars nearly erased a 28-12 fourth-quarter deficit, pulling to within 28-26 on a 10-yard touchdown run by Chris Yakawich, but Davenport stuffed the two-point conversion to earn the home win.

WALLA WALLA -- Jeremiah Cox threw for four touchdowns and 230 yards to lead DeSales to a Southeast 2B home win over Tri-Cities Prep.

WAITSBURG -- Dalton Estes scored on a 30-yard pass from Zach Bartlow and ran 11 yards for another score, as host Waitsburg-Prescott routed Tekoa-Oakesdale-Rosalia in a Southeast 2B game.

DeSales locked up the No. 2 seed with its 15-14 win over Dayton on Friday, while Waitsburg-Prescott has the No. 1 seed.

WAITSBURG -- Zach Bartlow ran for 105 yards and a score, threw for 138 and three more, and returned an interception 90 yards for another TD as W-P wrapped up the Southeast 2B championship with a homecoming win.

WALLA WALLA -- Joe Duehn caught a 20-yard touchdown pass from Heremiah Cox in the fourth quarter to lead host DeSales past Dayton in a Southeast 2B contest.

ASOTIN -- DeSales' Nick Wales had two touchdowns on 56 total rushing yards in a Southeast 2B win over host Asotin.

PASCO -- Waitsburg-Prescott improved to 7-0 overall, 3-0 in the Southeast 2B League by holding on for a 26-20 road victory over Tri-Cities Prep.

ASOTIN -- Evan Whitsett had four touchdowns and 325 passing yards for Tri-Cities Prep but host Asotin kept the Jaguars scoreless in the fourth and reached around a 27-25 third-quarter deficit on the strength of Levi Forsberg's 5-yard TD run to pull out a Southeast 2B win.

WAITSBURG -- Zach Bartlow's 4-yard run in the third quarter proved to be the difference as Waitsburg-Prescott edged visiting Dayton in the Southeast 2B contest.

ROSALIA -- Jeremiah Cox threw for 348 yards and five touchdowns to lead the Fighting Irish to a Southeast 2B comeback victory.

WARDEN -- Adam Hansen caught touchdown passes of 40 and 20 yards from Trent Bates, but Warden (4-2, 1-1) fell to White Swan (3-3, 2-0) in 2B Central Washington South play.

WALLA WALLA -- Zach Bartlow had 207 passing yards for three touchdowns and Waitsburg-Prescott pulled away from a 14-14 halftime knot to defeat host DeSales in a Southeast 2B game.

WARDEN -- Trent Bates passed for four touchdowns and 190 yards as Warden built a comfortable 34-0 halftime lead and romped to a Central Washington 2B home victory over Waterville.

WAITSBURG -- Zach Bartlow rushed for three touchdowns and threw two others as the Cardinals rolled to the nonleague home victory.

TONASKET -- Bailey Rivas caught a 40-yard touchdown pass from Evan Whitsett in the fourth quarter to put the Cardinals up by one, but the Tigers' Lazaro Ortega kicked a game-winning 22-yard field goal as time expired.

ELGIN, Ore. -- Waitsburg-Prescott improved to 3-0 overall with a 50-28 road win at Elgin, keyed by Zach Bartlow's five-TD performance.

WHITE SWAN -- Nick Wales rushed for 209 yards and two touchdowns as DeSales (2-1) defeated host White Swan in a nonleaguer.

WARDEN -- Trent Bates threw two of his four touchdown passes to Adam Hansen to lead the Cougars (2-1) in a nonleague home game.

PILOT ROCK -- Chance Larreau ran in a 63-yard touchdown and Dalton Larreau pulled off a 24-yard TD run as Waitsburg-Prescott chewed through the Rockets defense to take a nonleague road victory in Oregon.

COLFAX -- Nick Wales ran for 158 yards and a touchdown for DeSales, Ryan Baumgart ran in a 10-yard pass from Jeremiah Cox and the Irish lost a nonleague road contest against Colfax.

DAYTON -- Hayden Fullerton ran for 136 yards and three touchdowns as host Dayton edged Enterprise in a nonleaguer.

PENDLETON -- Evan Whitsett threw for 324 yards and four touchdowns and ran the ball into the end zone twice to pilot Tri-Cities Prep to a nonleague road victory over the Pendleton junior varsity.

WAITSBURG -- Zach Bartlow had two touchdowns on 153 passing yards as Waitsburg-Prescott defeated visiting Davenport.

MABTON -- The Vikings dropped their season opener on the road.

WALLA WALLA -- Jeremiah Cox ran for two touchdowns and passed for two to lead the Irish in their season opener at home against the Lightning.

PASCO -- Evan Whitsett connected with his receivers for four touchdowns and 369 yards as the Jaguars knocked visiting Irrigon for a loop in a nonleague game.

STANFIELD, Ore. -- Colton Bickelhaupt threw a pair of touchdown passes to Hayden Fullerton and ran for another as Dayton opened with a nonleague win on the road.
