By Kevin Anthony, Herald staff writer

Four area wrestlers earned All-America honors by placing in the top six at the High School Senior Nationals, including Sunnyside brothers Isaac and Steven Romero.

Isaac Romero placed fourth at 112 pounds in the senior tournament in Virginia Beach, Va., on March 28-30.

The senior bracket is open to any senior wrestler who placed first or second at state. The junior, sophomore and freshman tournaments are held in conjunction with the senior event and but open to anyone.

Steven Romero placed third at 103 pounds in the junior tourney. Hermiston's Bryce McMahon (fourth at 140) and Curtis Berger (third at 171) wrestled in the freshmen bracket.

Kiona-Benton's Troy Cunningham, Sunnyside's JT Gonzalez and Hermiston's Randy Larson all wrestled in the senior invitational tourney but did not place.

Of the other 15 area wrestlers to compete in the event, Hermiston junior Brandon Adolf (4-2 at 130) and Sunnyside freshman Josh Romero (3-2 at 119) came the closest to placing.

Among the notable Northwest finishes, Zillah freshman Chris Castillo placed second at 140 pounds, and Scappoose senior Ryland Geiger won a national title at 189.
