Richland tennis rolls to Inland Empire championship

SPOKANE -- Richland players won five of the 10 division titles as the Bombers rolled to the Inland Empire championship with 149 points in Spokane.

Sophomore Troy Zuroske won the No. 1 boys singles, beating intracity rival Jake Knox of Hanford 6-2, 6-1.

Hanford finished third in the team standings with 109 points, led by Curtis Lan's victory at No. 2 boys singles.

Boys No. 1--Championship: Troy Zuroske (Richland) d. Jake Knox (Hanford), 6-2, 6-1.

Boys No. 2--Championship: Curtis Lan (Han) d. Josiah Jackson (Ellensburg), 6-2, 7-5; 3rd/4th: Liem Dinh (Rich) d. Jonathan Mandelis (Wenatchee), 6-3, 6-4.

Girls No. 1--Championship: Lea Jansen (Freeman) d. Nele Zorn (Kennewick), 6-2, 6-1.

Girls No. 2--3rd/4th: Mikaela Peterson (Gonzaga Prep) d. Melissa Ling (Southridge), 6-2, 6-2.

Doubles

Boys No. 1--Championship: Elliot Martin-Chris Shallman (Rich) d. Chris Martin-Zach Williams (Lewis & Clark), 3-6, 6-3, 6-4.

Boys No. 2--Championship: John Sampson-Taylor Dickey (Rich) d. Louis Rukavina-Colin Moravec (LC), 6-1, 6-0.

Girls No. 1--Championship: Britta Stime-Katijene Stime (Mead) d. Cassandra Dicken-Becky Sharpe (Han), 6-1, 6-1.

Girls No. 2--Championship: Laurel Thompson-Sydney Dautel (Rich) d. Katie Willis-Maycee McQuin (Wen), 6-3, 6-4.

Mixed No. 1--Championship: Erica Norris-Bryan Lee (Mead) d. Lauren Thomas-A.J. Thomas (Han), 6-3, 7-6 (3).

Mixed No. 2--Championship: Mikayla Kusuda-John Talbot (Rich) d. Amie DeWolf-Zach Caldwell (Mt. Spokane), 6-3, 6-2.
