Richland will be in good hands next week while coach Michelle Martin puts her best foot forward at the 112th Boston Marathon on April 21.
Assistant coach Felix Quinn will step in to lead the boys and girls teams while Martin -- who qualified for the race at the Phoenix Rock and Roll Marathon with a time of 3:51.06 -- is away.
Martin, 45, said this is her third marathon and that she is "pretty starstruck" by the opportunity.
-- Though it was buried in the agate under the landslide of Kamiakin and Richland wins, Southridge claimed a championship bracket of its own Saturday at the 28th annual Tri-City Invite when the Suns' No. 1 girls doubles team of Stephanie Hamilton and Erin Salisbury beat their counterparts from Mead 6-2, 6-3 in the finale at Pasco High.
