Roundup: Kamiakin girls sweep singles at 28th annual Tri-City Invite

By the Herald staff

Brittney Reed, Caitlin Bampton and Demie Warner of Kamiakin swept the girls singles championship brackets as the Braves finished second overall with 162 team points at the 28th Annual Tri-City Invite tennis tournament Saturday afternoon.

The 16-team competition took place at Southridge, Kamiakin, Kennewick and Pasco high schools.

"It's been over 10 years since there's been a sweep of the girls singles, and we're very fortunate to have all three girls on the same team this year," Kamiakin coach Sarah Miller said. "They were favored going into the tournament, and they performed up to their expectations."

Richland was led by No. 1 boys doubles champions Elliott Martin and Taylor Dickey as the Bombers walked away with the invitational's championship title with 183 team points. Sixth-place Hanford's lone championship came courtesy of Curtis Lan, who defeated Walla Walla's Ricardo Hepp 6-4, 7-5 in No. 2 boys singles.
