Roundup: Kamiakin soccer blanks Southridge

KENNEWICK -- Madi Meyer made four saves to record her fifth straight shutout as the Kamiakin girls soccer team defeated crosstown rival Southridge 1-0 on Saturday at Lampson Stadium.

The win moves the Braves (11-1-1 overall) into a tie atop the CBBN standings with Richland at 10-1. The Bombers, though, own the tiebreaker for the No. 1 district seed by virtue of an earlier win over Kamiakin.

The Braves still have to play West Valley and Pasco among their final three games.

Richland's toughest remaining test comes Tuesday at Moses Lake.

Shelby Gunion scored the game's only goal in the 39th minute, her fourth of the season.

Chiawana 1, Walla Walla 0

WALLA WALLA -- Erin Huisingh produced an unassisted goal in the 15th minute as Chiawana edged Walla Walla in a CBBN contest.

The victory moved Chiawana two games clear of Eastmont in the battle for the eighth and final district playoff berth.

Pasco 4, Wenatchee 0

PASCO -- Kaylie Winston had a goal and two assists to lead Pasco to a CBBN shutout victory over Wenatchee at Edgar Brown Stadium.

The Bulldogs moved into a tie for sixth with Wenatchee in the standings. But with third-place West Valley splitting off to the 3A playoffs, Pasco now owns the tiebreaker for the No. 5 district seed and a home first-round playoff game.

RICHLAND -- Kie Johnson scored the game's only goal in the fourth minute before leaving later in the first half with a cut that required stitches to close, and Hanford (6-6 overall) won in CBBN play in Richland.

The Falcons started the game with just 13 players and were down to 11 by the final whistle.
